Ginger has a long history of use, spanning back over 2,500 years. There has also been a lot of interesting research carried out on this fascinating herb, which indicates it could have up to 115 active components. Gingerols and Shogaols are the two with the most interesting reports.
Turmeric – Most of us are familiar with Turmeric as one of the principle ingredients in a curry. However, Turmeric is widely used in Chinese & Indian Herbalism and has been the subject of vast amounts of research in recent years. The active component in Turmeric is Curcumin, which is responsible for the spice’s distinctive yellow colour. Curcumin has been the focus of many reports and studies over the years.
Bromelain – These enzymes are reputed for their ability to digest proteins and include a mixture of different compounds, including: phosphatase, glucosidase, peroxidase, cellulase and several protease inhibitors. Bromelain is non-toxic – clinical studies into its’ safety have shown that the body can absorb around 12g without any side effects.
