April is Earth Month, a fantastic opportunity to celebrate our environment by doing what we can to protect it. Spring is finally here and there are a lot of things to look forward to over the coming months. But while we’ll all be grateful to enjoy the longer days and warmer weather, it’s important to remember to take care of our planet too, especially if we’re going to be spending more time outdoors.

Want to get involved? Here are some of the ways you can celebrate Earth Month.

Do something special every day

The little things can help make a big difference, so why not do 30 little things to celebrate Earth Month? Some of the things you could do include:

  • Have a zero-waste day
  • Go meatless
  • Leave your car at home
  • Switch your lightbulbs
  • Go litter-picking

Plot out your 30 things and tick them off one by one. You could even share on social media to encourage your friends, family and followers to take part too.

Have a waste-free clear out

Now is the time of year when most people have a spring clean, which often involves some serious decluttering. But instead of simply throwing out your unwanted items, could you go waste-free instead? There are some good ways you can get rid of your unwanted things, including selling or donating them. There are also ways you can recycle your old clothes and electronics, helping to support good causes and making sure your unwanted things don’t go straight to a landfill. Recycle and donate as much as possible, and you can still benefit from a clutter-free home.

Swap your film night

Love to curl up in front of a film? Why not swap your typical film night choice for an environmental documentary? There are some fascinating documentaries about topics related to the environment, including The True Cost, Before The Flood and The Cove. These types of documentaries can be a hard watch, but they can teach you a lot about our planet and how your actions can impact it. It might even make you rethink some of your habits to make changes for the better.

Reduce your energy use

Finding ways to reduce your energy consumption will not only help you do your bit for the environment, but it could help you save money too. From switching off your appliances at the mains to dimming your lights (or turning them off altogether), you could make a lot of changes to bring your energy bills down permanently. Challenge yourself and your family to save energy this month, and keep it going for the rest of the year too.

Plant a Tree

Planting trees is a great way to help the environment and reduce our carbon footprint. here at Snooty Catz we plant one tree for every order placed and we have a Snooty Catz Forest with Ecologi. You too can have your own forest and if you sign up with the Snooty Catz link we will both receive 30 sparkly trees paid for by Ecologi. After all who doesn’t love a sparkly tree 🙂 Sign up for Sparkly Trees

There is always more that can be done to help the environment, and Earth Month is the perfect reminder to play your part. From one-off efforts to making permanent changes to your habits, there are a lot of ways you can celebrate Earth Month? How will you take part?
